Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Philadelphia PA

Must-Have Skills:

• Ability to operate CHOP vehicles with a clean driving record
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond calmly in emergency or high-stress situations
• Basic computer skills (incident reporting systems, MS Office, CCTV, access control)
• Ability to work rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays)
• Ability to wear a respirator

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Hospital or healthcare security experience
• Prior law enforcement, military, or criminal justice experience
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
• Healthcare security certification

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Perform entry screening, ID checks, badge enforcement, and patrols (foot and vehicle)
• Respond to routine and emergency security calls and document incidents
• Provide visitor assistance, wayfinding, and customer service
• Assist clinical teams during aggressive patient situations and restraint events
• Enforce enterprise security policies and escort unauthorized individuals

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• PA Act 235 certification (must be active prior to submission)
• Active driver's license with clean driving record (required)
• Ability to qualify for CHOP insurance and drive CHOP vehicles
• Willingness to obtain CPI certification within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Management, or related field
• 1+ year experience in hospital security, law enforcement, military, or related field
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (IAHSS)
